Tackle A New Year Head On
Hi Fearless Friend,
As we go into a new year, I want to make sure you’re feeling like your most fearless self. Also, I hate New Year’s Eve. I can’t tell you the last time I got excited to celebrate New Year’s Eve! I find that my life is easier to control when I maintain my routine and goals consistently. That means not looking at holidays as anything but a chance to relax and chill out. Anyone else? Save your money and invest it instead of spending your dough on another overpriced dinner. Unless that’s what you love to do and if so, go for it GF.

As I sat in my apartment in LA this morning (I moved out of Austin and am now setting up shop in London to build Alexa Curtis Consulting) I erased everything on my dry-erase board from 3 months ago. If you can believe it, my goals 3 months ago are not the same ones I have at this current moment. That’s life: you have to be prepared for something to always change your direction at any given time. Be flexible!
Here are 3 ways to enter the New Year fearless!
Start writing down (I prefer an actual journal NOT notes on your phone but that’s me!) where you are now, where you want to be AND, how you’ll get there. This may be something like… I’m currently making X amount a month and I want to be making 3X that by March. I’m going to get there by X.
P.S. can’t afford a journal? I’ll send three subscribers my favorite journal for writing notes in. Respond to this email with what you’ll be writing and I’ll choose 3 of you to send a journal to!
Try your hardest to be off of your cell phone 2 hours before you go to bed and not look at it the first hour of your day. This may mean you have to shift your life around a bit, but let me tell you - it’s worth it.
Take time to reflect on the past year and acknowledge any fears or apprehensions that held you back. Identify what you've learned from these experiences. Make a conscious effort to let go of the past, releasing any fear, doubt, or negativity that might hinder your progress. Embrace the idea that each new year brings opportunities for growth and a fresh start.
Books I’m reading
Andy Dunn (Bonobos co-founder) captures mental illness in the rawest and most genuine form in his book Burn Rate. He is spot on when he writes that people in the entertainment industry often talk about mental illness whereas people in business do not.
Paul Van Doren tackles his entrepreneurial journey in Authentic, A Memoir by the Founder of Vans.
Sarah Knight is helping me Calm The F*** Down in her book, you guessed it, Calm The F*** Down.
This week on The New Unfiltered is Laurel Gallucci. Haven’t subscribed yet? Subscribe on Spotify & Apple podcasts, write me a review and I’ll send you a $5 gift card to Amazon or Starbucks. Reply to this email with a screenshot!
