The crazy, wild ride of entrepreneurship. While in Romania at a wedding earlier this month, my friend asked me what I’d change about myself.

It took me less than 2 seconds to reply with:

my ambition.

Now, let me clarify. Being ambitious, type A and driven is an asset. If I could give this superpower to others, I would.

It’s a rewarding experience to constantly be striving for so much more in life, things that may be unrelatable to the majority of people. It’s not that I wish to remove my ambition: I’d perhaps tone it down a notch, to be a bit more normal (dare I use that word?) so that the frustrations and elements of entrepreneurship didn’t involve sprinting on a hamster wheel with no end in sight.

That’s the thing about entrepreneurship people lose sight of: it’s the spin on the wheel that makes this worth the insane highs and lows.

When I say insane, I mean insane.

I saw the founder of Flo (he’s a guy, can you believe it?) Dmitry Gurski speak last week in London at an event and he was transparent about his insane ride building a unicorn company (worth $1B) that helps almost every women in the world with their menstrual cycle.

What did he say about the feeling he had when he was notified Flo was a unicorn company? FYI: click here to read about what a unicorn company is.

When he reached the top of the mountain (achieving unicorn status), he was already thinking about how to get higher.

There’s no stopping someone with ambition and drive, and that’s why everyone isn’t destined to be an entrepreneur. Your path can always change.
