How to not hate posting about yourself
Building a strong personal brand online is essential for professionals looking to advance their careers or grow their businesses. However, if you're someone who prefers not to share too much personal information, navigating social media and personal branding can feel challenging. Fortunately, there are effective strategies you can adopt to promote your professional identity while maintaining your privacy. Here are three tips that can help you manage your personal brand without having to overshare about yourself.
1. Focus on Your Work and Projects
Instead of focusing on personal aspects, highlight your work, projects, or the impact of what you do. Share updates about your professional accomplishments, insights into your industry, or lessons learned from recent projects. I love a good Twitter quote or something similar with your headshot attached. If you follow me on social media, you’ll notice I do a lot of these. I post a lot of personal videos too, but I find people also resonate with headshots & quotes. This approach keeps the content professional and less about personal details, making it easier for those who enjoy being more private.
Become a thought leader in your field by sharing, commenting on, and curating content that is relevant to your expertise. Do a LinkedIn live once a month with a guest who can also promote your page on theirs. You can post articles, news, and trends that reflect your professional interests and values. This way, you still build a personal brand without having to create personal content but can chime in on many topics. Adding your perspective or why you think a particular piece of content is important can add a personal touch without getting too personal.
3. Use Testimonials and Third-Party Content
Leverage the voices of others to enhance your personal brand. Share testimonials from clients or colleagues, collaborations with peers, or mentions in other publications. This third-party validation can be an effective way to showcase your expertise and achievements without directly promoting yourself.

Weekly Quote
"Branding demands commitment; commitment to continual re-invention; striking chords with people to stir their emotions; and commitment to imagination. It is easy to be cynical about such things, much harder to be successful."
