Starting Up: What Am I Missing?

1. Your Business Plan

can be the most important part of your new business. What are your goals? How do you plan to reach them? Who is your target audience? Knowing the answers to these questions is super important when you start out. Google “business plan outline” to get advice on how to build your plan. If you’re building a personal brand, you may not need that type of outline but instead should make a PPT about who you are and what your vision statement is for the personal brand you want to be.

2. Doing the Math

You’ve got to make sure you’re making money! Keeping track of everything you’re spending, everything you’re charging, and everything in between so you make sure nothing falls through the cracks. A great tool? FreshBooks is perfect for bookkeeping and it’s FREE!

3. Don’t Lose Customers!

One important thing to keep your business in the green is holding on to your customers. If you have a satisfied customer, get their review! An unsatisfied one? Find out why! Keeping your startup focused on the clients is essential for maintaining growth.

4. Marketing Magic

When in doubt, post it out! Marketing through social media is the fastest way to see your business bloom. If you don’t have social media accounts already, make them! Consistent posting is important, but knowing your audience is better. Do research on other brands in your sphere and see what they’re doing to gain traction. Want to start a newsletter? Beehiiv.com is a perfect place to start!

Be Fearless 2024 is in full swing: not following us on Instagram? Hit us up here to see the recently posted 2024 schedule for the NYC summit. Meet Anne Mahlum, Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton, me! and many more rad speakers at the invite-only networking event. I almost didn’t host another Be Fearless event so this is a monumental time for the brand as we launch this new format!

Reading Update

Finding time to read is hard! Which is why I like to do the work for you. I’ve been Think and Grow Rich (again) and let me tell you, this book is THE book to do that: think and grow rich. I’ve never been a person too into manifesting but this book has me waking up and going to bed thinking and growing rich. Another book I keep around and constantly re-read is How To Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie. Get a copy of each!
