Networking: It’s exhausting!

Navigating the networking scene can sometimes feel like a total chore, especially when it starts to wear you down. But don’t worry, I’ve got some super chill tips to keep it fun and fresh without the burnout. Here’s how you can keep your networking game strong and avoid that total tiredness:

1. Keep it Real

Don’t force yourself to hit every single event. Choose the ones that actually vibe with your interests or where you can meet peeps who share your goals. It’s all about quality, not quantity, so you don’t burn out! Remember to take breaks sometimes too. You don’t have to be networking every weekend. Make reasonable networking goals for yourself to avoid burnout.

2. Bring A Buddy

Everything’s better with friends, right? Drag a friend along to your next networking thing. It’s way less intimidating and you can hype each other up. Be careful not to be stuck to each other like glue the whole time, make sure you’re doing your own individual networking still. But it’s much needed relief to see a friend across the room. Plus, it's a perfect excuse to grab a bite or a drink after and share names, gossip, and laugh off awkward moments!

3. Mix It Up!

Try different kinds of networking settings. Swap out the usual conference room mingle for something more chill like a workshop or a local meetup around a hobby you enjoy. It makes the whole experience feel less like work and more like fun. Plus, connecting over shared interests can spark more genuine conversations and connections! Also, view more things as opportunities for networking. Going to a paint and sip event with your bestie? Bring some business cards and strike up a convo with your neighbor! Networking doesn’t have to be all suits and official events.

"One of the things that I think is most important to remember is that you’re not going to find real joy in work or life if you’re burned out, stressed, and just chasing goals without purpose."
