How To Get Anyone On The Phone

Dear Fearless friend,

Let’s get unfiltered today, what do you think? I’ve been reading a book by Joe Sanok called Thursday Is The New Friday and the book dives into how we all work way too much and spend way less time than we should be enjoying the journey of life. Agreed?

Overthinking is ruining your creativity! Do then think!

  • Find Common Ground: When initiating contact, highlight any common connections, mutual interests, or relevant topics. Establishing common ground can create a sense of rapport and make the conversation more engaging for the other person.

  • Craft a Compelling Message: Whether through email, a text message, or a voicemail, craft a concise and compelling message that clearly states your purpose for wanting to speak with them. Highlight the value or benefit they may gain from the conversation and express your respect for their time. Business is a two-way street but when you want to get someone on the phone, that street is a bit more one-way. You need them and they probably don’t need you but make them realize THEY DO need you.

  • Persistence with Respect: If you don’t receive an immediate response, don’t give up. Politely follow up after a reasonable amount of time (if you’re like me, I enjoy borderline harassment but some people prefer to play it on the safer side). Sometimes, it may take multiple attempts before you get a response.

  • Utilize Mutual Connections: If you share mutual connections, consider leveraging these relationships. A referral or introduction from a common acquaintance can significantly increase the likelihood of getting through to the person you want to speak with. Reach out to a mutual person on LinkedIn and say you were in touch but now haven’t heard back, are they able to connect you?

Stay fearless or die trying,
