Your main business is the long road… What about a pit stop?
I just started a new business and let me tell you, it’s like having a new best friend, sister, baby, boyfriend…and all of the above.
Your budding business is your retirement plan, your career, and the thing that consumes most of your thoughts. It’s time to think about some easy ways to increase your income without taking up all your time until your brand blows up.
A few of my favorites side hustles that enable you to create your own role: so you’re getting experience cold pitching, too.
Find newer VC backed brands & cold pitch a role about building community for them
Cold email your favorite creator/s and ask them if they have a VA (many of them don't but could really utilize one)
Find public speakers and reach out to them / see if they have anyone who does their BTS content at speaking events...I've hired many people who have reached out to me about this!
Use your skillz to pay the billz on Fiverr
Fiverr is a great tool to list your skills and offer quick turnaround for small projects. There are lots of people willing to pay a few bucks to take a task of their plate.
Here are some less saturated niches to cover:
SEO Writing: You’ll take the time to craft the perfect list of SEO keywords for their ads, website, or social media to get them clicks
Social Media Posts: 20 minutes in Canva could do the trick. Sell simple social media posts for people who don’t have the creative eye
Your niche: Can you code widgets for websites? Design a 3-course meal for a dinner party? List things that not everyone can do but YOU CAN. For cheap!
Add your Fiverr account to your Linktree, social media, and portfolio. Everyone you interact with can now see the odd jobs you have to offer and they’ll respect the side hustle!
2. Reach out with those skillz!
Take those social media, SEO writing, and code-computing skills and reach out to businesses in your area. A new coffee shop just opened up? Give them a call and see if they need someone to make SM posts for them. Cold email top newsletters and see if they are looking to outsource some of their writing. Local roofer’s website is a nightmare? Give them a call and offer to redesign! Small projects add up and you never know who’s looking for help until you reach out.
3. Know who to target
Utilize programs like ChatGPT to have them do some of the hard work for you. Ask it to research startups or businesses local to you, or within your area of expertise, that have recently come into funding. If a company on your radar has recently acquired Venture Capital (VC) funding, it means they have the money to grow and grow fast. These companies are prime candidates for you to reach out to and pitch your services.
If I wanted to get a job in this job market, here's what I'd do:
use ChatGPT to look up recently backed VC companies (in an area you're interested in), connect with the founder on LI and see if they're hiring.
