My BIGGEST Mistake In Business

and how to avoid it!

Hi Fearless Friend!

This week on Stay Fearless or Die Trying:

  1. My biggest mistake my business and how I overcame it

  2. Announcing a variety of upcoming guests for premium webinars!

  3. Results of last week’s poll on what to read next

P.S. If you follow me on Instagram and want to know what Be Fearless is, it’s my passion project and second startup. I’ve been hosting career conferences since 2018, and this is the first event that isn’t in partnership with a university. On April 27th, we’ll bring together a group of highly vetted mentors, speakers, and aspiring/current founders to help them be fearless.

Expect to meet people like Anne Mahlum (Founder and CEO of Solidcore, one of my favorite workouts), Ora Space founder Kim Ross, and many more founders. Get on the list here.

Mistakes as a 26-year-old founder…

I’ve made quite a few and I’m proud of them all!

When I started, I was new to a lot of things. Being alone in a big city, being my own boss, and especially spending money. It wasn’t long before I knew I needed resources to help me manage money and grow my capital intelligently. I did what I thought was right and I hired a financial planner. That’s what all the wealthy people do, right?

Growing up, no one ever taught me about credit cards or how to get out of debt. I’ve spoken about my debt journey numerous times on my platforms because it’s important for me to educate people about debt and money! I’m here to teach you life lessons AND inspire you to be fearless, remember!?

My boyfriend at the time suggested I read Ramit Sethi’s book and it changed my life. Not only did I not have the money to afford the planner in the first place but…

That’s the problem: I didn’t have enough money to pay for the financial planner! What was I doing!? Making mistakes and learning through them!

After reading this book below, I got myself out of debt and in a healthy place with my finances.

And just so you know, this is NOT a sponsored post. Ramit also has a Netflix documentary you may have seen, too!

I will Teach you to be Rich by Ramit Sethi completely changed my life. He provides a program to get you on track for success. I didn’t follow this plan weekly but instead keep this book on hand to remind myself what to do when I feel like I’m getting into a hole again (financially) IF/ when that happens.

Week 1: Credit Cards. Check your credit, pick a good credit card, set up automatic payments, pay off debt.
Week 2: Bank Accounts. Open or assess your checking account, open and fund a high-interest savings account.
Week 3: Investing Accounts. Open a 401(k), make a plan to pay off debt, open a Roth IRA and set up automatic payment.
Week 4: Conscious Spending. Create a Conscious Spending Plan, track spending, and cut in the right places.
Week 5: Automatic Money Flows. List and link accounts, then set up an Automatic Money Flow to automatically fund the 4 categories of your Conscious Spending Plan.
Week 6: Investing Choices. Figure out your investing style, research investments, and buy funds.

I let go of my financial planner and have opted to live by all of Ramit’s tips.
